Why Flexibility Matters: Kate Ross on Finding the Balance Between F2F and WFH

In a recent feature for The Drum, Kate Ross, our Co-Founder and Group Managing Director, shared her thoughts on the evolving debate around hybrid work policies. As many agencies tighten remote working arrangements, including WPP's newly instated four-office-days-a-week rule, Kate highlighted why a flexible yet purposeful approach can achieve more impactful results.

“Face-to-face (F2F) interaction is critical for creativity, bonding, and client servicing,” Kate explained. “But dragging everyone back to the office for a mandatory ‘X days a week’ is a depressing way to do it.”

At eight&four, the focus is on fostering meaningful in-person moments rather than enforcing attendance. Kate shared examples of the approach, from hiring a suite of Land Rovers as part of a client brand immersion to brainstorming sessions at the Natural History Museum. These unique experiences emphasise collaboration and creativity while preserving the flexibility that modern teams value.
